Bloomsburg Lacrosse Downs Millersville

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team beat Millersville University 8-7 on Sunday. The win raises the Huskies' record to 2-2 on the year, 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The Huskies' started the game strong with four straight goals in the first 10 minutes of play. Scoring the BU goals were Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove), Mary Chirichella (Petersburg, NJ/Ocean City), Angie Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West), and Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton). The Marauders' Jackie Geiger scored to get on the board, but Allison McFatridge (Hatboro/Upper Moreland) fought back with a goal halfway through the first half to push the Bloomsburg lead back to four goals at 5-1. Anna Marmer scored for Millersville to bring the score to 5-2 going into halftime.

Millersville rallied back two minutes into the second half by scoring two goals. However, Toms scored off an assist from Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) to keep the Huskies' lead. The Marauders' put away two more goals to tie the game at 6-6 before McFatridge and Alex Totino (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Sachem) scored to give Bloomsburg the lead for good. Millersville's Elizabeth Weekley scored once more before the end of play to bring the final score to 8-7.

Bloomsburg goalie Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) had 10 saves in the game.

The Huskies return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Indiana (PA) University for a 4:00 p.m. game.
